Jean Potter is a bookbinder who made her way to Western Massachusetts by way of Asheville and Chicago. She is a graduate of the Art Institute of Chicago, and continues her bookbinding education through independent learning and lots of exploration. Her work mixes traditional bookbinding methods with improvisational techniques with the goal of keeping the craft open-ended and new, and she brings the spirit of exploration to her classes so that bookbinding can feel accessible and dynamic to students of all ages and abilities.
